呼籲�學�與12月18日請願：��高�669億方案漠視民�

行政長官�行政會議��並�交立法會撥款669億港元興建廣深港高速�路香港段（後稱高�），自議案�出以來備�社會�界質疑，政府進行短短兩個月諮詢後便強行推出議案，而該議案更於早�立法會財務委員會工務委員會會議上，在大部份功能組別議員支�下通�。

此舉�映政府�部份立法會議員漠視�界質疑，倉�強推方案。我們強烈�求政府尊�民�，謹慎審視�研究整個高�計劃�香港民生�經濟�發展的影響。而作為立法會議員應有責任為香港市民把關，我們促請所有立法會議員�決撥款。

�時，高�議案尚需�通�立法會財務委員會，星期五財務委員會將進行會議討論並表決議案，學生會在此呼籲��港大�學到場�立法會議員表�訴求。

Call for action: Petition against the construction of Express Rail Link on 18/12

The Chief Executive and the Executive Committee aproved and proposed the construction of the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) at the cost of 66.9 billion Hong Kong Dollars. The proposal has since been under criticisms from different sectors of the society. The Government put forward the proposal after a short consultation period of just two months. The said proposal has been endorsed by the Public Works Subcommittee under the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council with the votes coming from the majority of functional constituency councilors.

This reflected the ignorance towards the concern of the public by the Government and some Legislative Councilors by pushing the proposal through in such a short period of time. We demand that the Government to respect the public opinion and comprehensively review the impact the construction will have on Hong Kong’s social, economical and developmental prospects. On the other hand, we urge all members of the Legislative Council to fulfill their responsibility to protecting the public interest by refusing the funding for the construction.
 

Meanwhile, for the funding to be granted it still have to be approved by the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council. On Friday the Finance Committee will meet to debate and vote on the motion to approve the funding for the construction. The Students’ Union urges our fellow students to express their view on the matter outside of the Legislative Council Building.
