譴責緬甸軍政府虛假指控及不公平審訊
強烈要求立即釋放昂山素姬 緬甸民主領袖暨諾貝爾和平獎得主昂山素姬被緬甸軍政府以違反長期軟禁令為由起訴及拘禁。緬甸軍政府自一九九零年昂山素姬選舉獲勝後，拒絕交出政權，繼而於一九九三年軟禁昂山素姬至今達十三年之久。 我們強烈要求緬甸軍政府立即無條件釋放昂山素姬，並強烈譴緬甸軍政府長期拘禁昂山素姬。聯合國人權委員會無理拘禁工作小組已表明軟禁昂山素姬無理並不正當，且違反緬甸當地法律。 緬甸軍政府為阻止昂山素姬參選來年大選，不惜作出虛假指控及進行「有劇本」的審訊，我們對此深感震驚及憤怒。是次閉門審訊有違公平、公正、公開的原則，而且司法欠缺獨立，昂山素姬的代表律師更被禁止出庭。我們譴責緬甸軍政府之不公義，其公然違反人權的行為蔑視國際社會所認同的普世價值。
昂山素姬一直義無反顧地為緬甸人民的自由和民主奮鬥，她標誌著緬甸人民的希望，更激勵了無數人士投身民主運動。我們在此向昂山素姬對人道主義的堅持致以最崇高的敬意。

Condemning the Show Trial by the Burmese Military Regime
Burma’s pro-democracy leader and Nobel Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi has been charged and held in prison by the military regime for a violation of her long-term home detention order. Aung San has spent thirteen long years in detention since her win in the 1990 elections, when the military regime shamelessly refused to relinquish power.
We strongly urge the Burmese military regime to release Aung San from detention immediately and unconditionally. We believe that, as affirmed by the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, Aung San’s detention is arbitrary and unjustified, and in contravention of Burmese national law. We thus strongly condemn Aung San’s continued arrest and detention. We are further shocked and outraged by the ‘show trial’ currently being conducted based on false charges, and with the shameless motive to keep Aung San from participating in next year’s elections. Aung San has been deprived a fair and open trial by an independent judiciary, and stripped of her right to due process and competent legal representation. We condemn the Burmese military regime for its acts of grave injustice and its blatant violation of human rights, which is in defiance of the common bonds of the international community as a whole. Further, we hereby pay tribute to Aung San Suu Kyi, who has fought and sacrificed in her long fight for freedom and democracy for her people. We believe that she stands as the beacon of hope and inspiration for many, and we pay our highest respect to her profound courage and her undying belief in the core values of humanity.
