在四月十八日，成龍先生於博鰲關于「創意電影」的論壇中發表言論，不但形容香港和台灣因「太自由」而「很亂」，更明言「中國人是要管的」。成龍先生是次言論不僅踐踏香港市民寶貴的自由價值，更損害中華人民的民族尊嚴。因此，我們對此言論表示強烈譴責。

 

我們在此重申，自由乃不可侵犯的普世價值，也是香港社會長久以來成功的基石，絕不是如成龍先生所說會構成混亂。最為諷刺的是，成龍先生在論壇中談及的創意電影，其必要元素正正是香港人所享有的高度自由。

 

因此，我們認為成龍先生是次不當言論已令全體香港市民蒙羞，他亦不宜繼續作為香港的大使。成龍先生不單未能作為香港人的表率，其言論更恐荼毒年青一代，對此我們深表遺憾。我們在此嚴正要求成龍先生對他所作之不當言論立即道歉。

 

 

 

On 18 April 2009, actor Jackie Chan spoke on a panel at the annual Boao Forum concerning creative filmmaking, expressing that Chinese people ‘need to be controlled’ and that ‘excessive freedom’ has caused ‘chaos’ in Hong Kong and Taiwan.  We strongly condemn Mr. Chan’s expressed views which severely undermine the cherished freedoms of the Hong Kong people.  We also condemn the degrading and patronizing suggestion that Chinese people need to be ‘controlled’. 

We stress that freedom is an inviolable fundamental value: it has been the cornerstone of Hong Kong’s success, and certainly not a source of ‘chaos’ as asserted by Mr. Chan.  We find it most ironic that Mr. Chan was speaking about creative filmmaking in Hong Kong, which hangs on the very spirit of the freedoms we now enjoy.

Thus we believe that Mr. Chan, as a representative of Hong Kong, has humiliated all Hong Kong people by his words and is ill-fitted to represent Hong Kong in future.  We fear that his words will have severe adverse impacts on the Hong Kong youths, who may look up to him as a role model.  Hence, we demand an immediate apology from Mr. Chan for his words of disgrace.
