Arising from the negotiations with the Government on public comments

on potential noise impact and the re-zoning application of Lung Wah

Street, there was suggestion to place more postgraduate students and

senior undergraduate students at the Lung Watr Steet hostels. PVC John

Malpas, in his letter dated November 26,2007 to UGC Secretary-general

Michael Stone, confirmed that the Lung Wah Street hostel will be

allocated to postgraduate students, local senior students and international

students. This was in response to the concerns of residents about potential

noise impact of the hall residents, and was re-iterated by members of the

Working Party at subsequent LegCo meetings.
